Fronius (Wels, Austria) introduces Acerios, a new surface cleaner powered by plasma technology. The Acerios system generates a plasma flame with a temperature of up to 1,000 degrees Celsius while a robot guides the welding torch over the surface at speeds of roughly 6 meters per minute.

Fronius reports two primary benefits from plasma cleaners: monetary and environmental costs. Unlike prevalent chemical cleaners, which immerses an entire component in chemicals, Acerios is able to clean specific areas as well as entire surfaces. Additionally, plasma cleaning eliminates the need for purchasing, storing, and disposing of chemicals used for chemical cleaning.

The Acerios system features a power source range of 35-200 amperes. It can be used on a variety of surfaces: from aluminum and steel to plastic, glass, and ceramic. Acerios has a cooling system with varying performance depending on operating mode (from spot to continuous operation) as well as a plasma torch with active cooling.
