TRUMPF Inc. (Farmington, CT) unveils to North America its new laser that automatically prepares parts for welding. Showing at FABTECH 2024 Orlando, The TruLaser Series 3000 Bevel Cut Edition produces beveled cutting edges (chamfers) on the top and bottom edge of the component while cutting. The product is designed to ensure optimum preparation of the welding edges and reduce downstream processes. It can apply chamfers to sheets of up to 1” thick and handle complex bevel geometries as well. According to the company, this product is particularly suitable for mild and stainless steel.
The cutting unit is equipped with two additional rotary axes, ultra compact drive motors, and a nozzle specifically developed for bevel cutting. The cutting head can be tilted in all directions up to an angle of 50 degrees. This unit regulates the distance to the sheet, and minimizes the risk of collision despite the steep angle. The laser cutter comes equipped with TRUMPF collision protection, which prevents damage from collisions with tipped parts.
Users can create bevels in different geometries. Edge geometries in which both sides of the part edge are provided with bevel cuts are possible.
New programming accompanies the new product. It comes with a preselection of all the processing strategies, which the user can adapt as required. There are also predefined cutting parameters for the special bevel cut nozzles.
The TruLaser Series 3000 Bevel Cut Edition also does 2D processing of components without bevels. The machine is equipped with Highspeed Eco for gas consumption reduction, FlexLine for the reliable processing of different material grades, and EdgeLine Bevel for the rounding of the upper sheet edges.
