MC Machinery (Elk Grove Village, IL) introduces the Mitsubishi SV12P sinker EDM with Maisart, proprietary artificial intelligence technology. Maisart makes use of condition-monitoring data and can diagnose real-time problems within the burn, and directly modify parameters. By monitoring parameters and analyzing sensor data, Maisart reduces electrode wear and costs, predicts machining times, and calculates work time. (See related stories on Maisart and the new MC Machinery GF-X ADVANCED laser with Maisart.)
The SV12P features the Mitsubishi M800 large-format controller and can be outfitted with MC Machinery’s remote360 diagnostic technology and a video camera for remote visualization.
The SV12P includes three circuit choices:
- the standard NP2 circuit which provides an ultra-fine, satin surface finishing;
- the enhanced Glossy Mirror Finishing Circuit (LLTX) improves mold release-ability without the need for polishing; and
- the HPS circuit enhances machining speed while reducing electrode wear when working with exotic materials.
The SV12P was designed to work in unison with the IDPM3, and reportedly gives up to 80% reduction in wear on graphite electrodes and up to 50% reduction in machining time from this combination.
The SV12P utilizes the GV80P energy-saving power supply and the company says it reduces electrical consumption by 20% (compared to the previous FP model) and won the 2019 Energy-Efficient Machinery Award from the Japan Machinery Federation.
