The KR FORTEC ultra PA is a heavy-duty palletizing robot from KUKA (Sterling Heights, MI). It features a reach of more than 10 feet, and a load capacity of 550-800 kg (1,213-1,764 lbs.) It is ideal for heavy-duty fabricating (plate-based assemblies, for example) and machining (blocks). The robot can be mounted on KUKA’s KL 5000, a linear axis that can extend the range of the KR FORTEC ultra PA by 31 meters.
The new robot weighs less than competitors with similar range and capacity, and its high stiffness offers increased precision due to its double rocker. In addition to palletizing, the robot is suitable for applications such as:
- Machining and polishing;
- Handling;
- Assembly;
- Cutting and separation;
- Application/painting/gluing;
- Packaging;
- Laser welding and cutting
- Spot welding; and
- Measuring and inspection
According to KUKA, the robot also performs well in terms of total cost of ownership. Due to its comparatively low energy consumption in its class, the ongoing operating costs are significantly reduced. Additionally, its modular design facilitates the storage of spare parts and maintenance of the entire robot fleet.
