The Zivid (Oslo, Norway) 2+ R-series of cameras offer high-quality 2D and 3D data within the same device. Inside the cameras is a new 2D camera with 5 megapixels, with the goal of giving customers images that have only been accessible in standalone 2D industrial cameras.
The image data is available in one coherent package that requires no 2D camera to 3D sensor calibration, extra installations, illumination, or hardware. According to Zivid, speeds of up to 3 times faster than previous solutions are achieved. Capture times can be a little as 50ms. These speed improvements make robot mounting an option.
The company will also introduce a structured light 3D technology, targeting vertical reflections and capturing the most difficult shiny and reflective items.
The Zivid 2+ R-series comes in three variants that address a wide range of applications in logistics, e-commerce, and manufacturing: the MR60, MR130, and the LR110. MR60 offers robot-mounted flexibility for point cloud quality for finely-detailed picking and manipulation in applications such as assembly and robot guiding. MR130 is designed to perfectly address piece-picking, parcel induction, and bin-picking from standard-sized bins and totes. LR110 offers very high-quality results coupled with a generous field of vision that is suited for robot-mounted bin-picking from large bins and multiple bins.
