The dura-kut from AKS Cutting Systems (Cleveland, OH) is a large format, gantry-style plasma cutting system with heavy-duty capacity. It features an independent table and a modular design for extended lengths. The dura-kut has a heavy-duty end truck design including servo motors, gearbox, and bearings.
The system features X-axis dual synchronized, vertical rack and pinion drives on both sides, a Y-axis bridge helical rack and pinion drive, and Z-axis Hypertherm Sensor Advanced Torch Height Control.
The dura-kut utilizes a number of technologies from Hypertherm including: Plasma Power Supply Unit, Edge Connect CNC Controller, ProNest Programming Software, Phoenix Operating Software, and Sensor Advanced Height Control.
The dura-kut is available with standard widths of 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, or 18 ft., but widths up to 30 ft. can be accommodated with the dura-max variant. It is offered in lengths of 20-200+ ft. in 10 ft. increments. It features a water or downdraft tank or table and a magnetic breakaway technology for the torch head to prevent damage upon a crash. The system has a travel speed of 1,200 in./min. and a positioning accuracy of plus or minus 0.006 in. per 3 ft. The dura-kut can optionally be equipped with an additional oxy-fuel torch and a second bridge with multiple cutting heads.
