TRUMPF Inc. (Farmington, CT) introduces a new TruLaser Tube 7000 laser tube cutting machine for the North American market. With nine kilowatts of laser power, the machine processes greater wall thicknesses with remarkable speed using nitrogen as its cutting gas. In 0.375-inch-thick mild steel, for example, productivity increases by up to 30 percent, and feed rates increase by up to 150 percent. This enables companies to increase throughput and reduce costs per part, while enabling them to cut greater wall thicknesses.
Thanks to the significantly increased outer circle of 11.4 inches, square tubes measuring 8 by 8 inches, round tubes with a diameter of 10.75 inches, and 10- by 6-inch rectangular tubes with a side length of up 10 inches, can all be processed on the TruLaser Tube 7000. The machine also cuts small tubes with diameters of 0.50 inches extremely quickly and precisely.
TRUMPF has expanded its “ScanLine” function to include the “Quality Pilot.” If the material is out of shape or of poor quality, ScanLine, which uses light section sensors to measure tolerances, can compensate for deviations. With the new additional “Quality Pilot” function, the machine independently decides whether ScanLine measurements are necessary and how often they should be performed, depending on the raw material quality of each individual tube. This function allows users to avoid unnecessary measurement cycles and save time.
With the new “ObserveLine Comfort” function, the machine’s cutting head moves over the cut contour after processing and uses a low-wattage laser pulse to check whether the scrap has fallen completely out of the tube. “ObserveLine Edge” technology means pre-punched tubes and profiles can also be easily further processed with greater reliability. The machine independently uses the laser beam to identify existing contours in the tube and automatically adapts the part’s program accordingly.
TRUMPF is launching the TruLaser Tube 7000 with various loading and unloading lengths, with a maximum of 41 feet.
