LVD (Gullegem, Belgium) launches Taurus FL, a new large-format fiber laser cutting machine designed for large sheet metal cutting. Taurus FL can process large parts as well as multiple smaller workpieces. Parts may be cut on one section of the table while loading and offloading of parts occurs simultaneously on another section, allowing for continuous cutting without interruption.
The machine size ranges from 12–42-meter bed length, adjustable in increments of 4 meters. Taurus FL accommodates workpieces up to 3.3 meters wide and up to 30 mm thick. The machine also provides the option of bevel cutting or 2.5D cutting up to 45 degrees. The Taurus FL bevel head uses two direct-drive motors and a direct-drive principle with no transmission component. Taurus FL is offered with a 6-, 8-, 10-, or 12-kW fiber laser source.
Taurus FL includes two touch panels for operator use as well as a handheld control unit, enabling the operator to move all axes in manual mode for machine setup or to load the nozzle changer. A camera inside the cutting zone and a monitor on the operator console allow for continuous monitoring of the cutting process.
An optional automatic nozzle changer may be used with Taurus FL. The unit has storage for 30 nozzles in a holder positioned close to the cutting head. The nozzle changer features an integrated camera that checks the nozzle alignment, size, and condition. CADMAN-L software may be used to assist with nesting, collision avoidance, and processing parameter tables.
