The UR20 from Universal Robots (Odense, Denmark) is the company’s top-end model with the longest reach (1750 mm) and heaviest payload (20 kg). It achieves these figures with a small footprint (245 mm) and weight (64 kg). It is also the fastest robot produced by Universal Robots.
While the robot has very specific applications for fabricating such as welding and machine tending, it is also able to perform tasks such as dispensing, finishing, material handling/removal, quality inspection, and more.
In addition to moving quickly, the UR20 also exhibits speed in deployment. From opening the box, using an untrained operator to unpack, mount the cobot, and program the first simple task, it typically takes less than one hour. Additionally, all UR cobots come with built-in safety features, including force-sensing technology and collision detection. These features allow the cobots to work alongside people without the need for safety barriers or cages.
