Renishaw’s (Gloucestershire, UK) RenAM 500Q is a multi-laser additive manufacturing system featuring four 500W lasers. Each laser is able to access the whole powder bed simultaneously. It has a deposition rate up to 150 cm 3 /hour and a build volume of 250 mm x 250 mm x 350 mm.
RenAM 500Q features automated powder and waste handling systems. Renishaw supplies the following metal powders: titanium (Ti6Al4V), aluminum (AlSi10Mg Alloy), cobalt chromium (CoCr), stainless steel (316L), and nickel alloys. A comprehensive list of researched and tested metal powders may be found on Renishaw’s website (linked below).
RenAM 500Q features an intercooler which reduces and stabilizes the temperature of the argon gas stream by cooling the recirculating gas. It also features the dual SafeChange ™ filter system, which monitors the pressure differential across the filter during the build and automatically diverts the argon gas to the clean filter when needed, replacing the spent filter automatically.
RenAM 500Q utilizes multiple software offerings from Renishaw for different aspects of the build process. QuantAM, a dedicated file preparation tool for additive manufacturing, accepts CAD exports in the form of STL data and allows for model preparation. RenAMP controls all aspects of operating the system. InfiniAM Central is Renishaw’s AM workflow planning and process monitoring software solution, providing live process monitoring and build data recording.
