DMG Mori’s (Bielefeld, Germany) LASERTEC 125 DED hybrid is a combined welding and milling machine for additive manufacturing and repair. LASERTEC 125 DED hybrid features five-axis material deposition by means of coaxial powder nozzle as well as five-axis milling capability.
The machine has a build diameter of 1,250 mm, a max build height of 745 mm, and a max table load of 2,000 kg. The milling spindle has a standard speed of 14,000 rpm and an optional max speed of 20,000 rpm. LASERTEC 125 DED hybrid uses a standard 2,500 W fiber laser diode and can use an optional 3,000 W fiber laser diode.
LASERTEC 125 DED hybrid includes DMG Mori’s AM Assistant software for process monitoring. It includes an integrated thermal imaging camera for work area observation and adaptive process control and monitoring of the work distance. AM Assistant monitors the powder feed rate through a sensor and provides automatic powder calibration. The software also includes AM Evaluator for visualizing relevant process data, such as melt pool size and powder mass flow, as a digital 3D model.
For operating, LASERTEC 125 DED hybrid uses DMG Mori’s Siemens NX, a hybrid CAD and CAM module for additive and subtractive manufacturing. Siemens NX includes 3D simulations of machine movements for collision prevention and can be used for the entire build process, from design to finishing.
