Voortman (Overijssel, Netherlands) has designed the V505-160T CNC angle punching, shearing, and drilling machine with productivity and stability in mind. The machine can process angle steel with minimum dimensions of 35 x 4 mm (1.375 x 0.125 inch) and maximum dimensions of 160 x 19 mm (6.3125 x 0.75 inch).
The V505-160T has two heavy-duty punch frames, each equipped with three punching tools, which the machine automatically switches between when changing processes. Each frame has an 80-ton hydraulic cylinder for punching angles up to 19 mm (3/4 inch) thickness. The punching cylinder is mounted on two linear guidance rails and driven with pneumatic cylinders.
The V505-160T features a precision material sensor to provide approach speed when processing angles and a servo-driven gripper truck, which has a maximum speed of 110 m/min (260 ft/min). The machine comes standard with a 6 m (20 ft) conveyor, but Voortman can accommodate conveyors up to 15 m (50 ft).
The machine uses 3 m (10 feet) cross transports with integrated magnets and a tilting roller conveyor for automatic batch loading and processing. The operator can load a large batch of angles on the infeed cross transports and let the machine continuously process them with active buffer management. Liftable magnets separate the first angle from the remainder of the batch and transport it into the machine with the tilting roller conveyor and gripper truck. The remaining profiles are automatically moved towards the infeed conveyors, ensuring the machine can process entire batches with minimal operator intervention.
The machine can produce parts from a cut-to-length angle bar without trim for scrap-free processing. The V505 is designed with replaceable dies and 7 kg (15 lbs.) punch blocks, facilitating tool changing and replacement.
