The Hypertherm (Hanover, NH) XPR300 offers 300-amp, high-definition plasma cutting. The XPR300 has a pierce capacity of 2 inches (50 mm) on mild steel, 1.5 inches (38 mm) on stainless steel, and 1.5 inches (38 mm) on aluminum. The machine produces consistent ISO range 2 results on thin mild steel and extended range 3 cut quality on thicker mild steel and stainless steel.
XPR300’s Arc Response technology provides automatic torch and ramp-down error protection. It monitors the plasma arc and automatically intervenes to reduce the impact of an electrode blowout or torch failure. Sensors in the power supply deliver diagnostic codes and system monitoring information, which provides proactive system maintenance data.
The machine also includes arc stability technology, which modifies the impingement of the shield gas when coming out of a piece hole or an acute angle to reduce lead-in lengths and to improve the cut quality. The XPR300’s HyFlow vortex or vented nozzle technology aligns and focuses the plasma arc to further increase arc stability and energy density, producing cleaner and more consistent edges.
The XPR300 includes Vented Water Injection as one of the three gas consoles. Vented Water Injection is a process featuring a vented N2 plasma gas and H2O shield gas for reducing angularity and producing squarer cut edges on stainless steel and especially on aluminum. The machine also provides vent-to-shield technology, in which hydrogen from the vented plasma gas is reclaimed and mixed with the shield gas, reducing angularity and delivering more consistent edge color on stainless steel up to 12 mm.
