The SafanDarley (Waukesha, WI) E-Brake Dual Drive 300T brings the advantages of E-Brake technology to the higher tonnage segment of the market with pressing forces up to 300 metric tons (330 US tons). This is possible due to the patented Dual Drive. Eight servo motors drive the press beam on four axles via a double pulley system, and a combination of fixed and flexible rollers and flexible belts ensures an even distribution of forces over the entire press beam. The polyurethane belts are 100 mm wide and reinforced with steel wires to protect against abrasion. Thanks to the balanced distribution of force, the deflection is still minimal, even at full pressing force.
The electronic drive also makes the switching times of the system short, resulting in a reported average of 30 percent faster cycle times. The lower beam of the machine is a completely new development and compensates the minimum deflection, eliminating the need for a crowning table, even at maximum pressing force. The lower beam is 180 mm (7 inches) wide, and the machine has a stroke of 400 mm (15.75 inches).
The system has an O-frame construction with a reinforced bridge and side frames. The bending tools remain in a straight line, and the back gauge can be used across the entire working length of the machine.
The system is equipped with a heavy-duty CNC-controlled backgauge system fitted with recirculating ball screws and precision linear ball-bearing guides. The basic model comes complete with a CNC-controlled X axis. The standard version of the backgauge has two hinging backgauge fingers that can be manually moved along the bending line as well as adjusted in height. The stop fingers are provided with interchangeable pins. In optimum use, they permit a maximum backgauge range of 1100 mm (43.3 inches).
