HRB 1003 ATC is a thoroughbred workhorse

The AMADA HRB 1003 ATC press brake

AMADA’s HRB 1003 ATC is a hydraulic-driven, 110-ton (US) rated press brake with a 3-meter bed length. This model comes paired with the Automatic Tool Changer (ATC) and is made in the US at AMADA’s High Point, NC facility. The base press brake is a real workhorse, fitting into a useful slot at almost any fabrication firm, but with the ATC addition it’s a workhorse that runs as fast as a thoroughbred.

The ATC handles all setups and teardowns of tooling, including multi-stage setups. No matter how complex or how many tools are included, only rarely does it take more than four minutes to do the setup. The high level of automation means that even a newcomer can get introductory training and be productive in a very short time.

ATC models like this one have AGRIP-A punch holders as standard equipment. They are compatible with AMADA’s HRB AFH punches that have tool fall protection. The hydraulic auto-clamping provides fast, easy tool setup to increase bending productivity.

The multiple axis backgauge expedites the setup for complex parts. The backgauge has a lightweight and rigid design, allowing for precise, high-speed positioning. Independent servo drives for L-axis as well as L-shift provide tapered and offset gauging. Positioning repeatability is excellent (L-axis +/- 0.001”).

A standard feature of the HRB 1003 ATC is the AMNC 3ie controller, which features a user-friendly, graphical interface that displays bend results before processing. The control has a “lite” mode so that fabricators of all skill levels can create bending programs quickly. The screen configuration depends on each operator’s user authentication function (so, for example, a new user cannot perform supervisory actions). The AMADA vSDD software database provides program storage on a local server when the control is networked.

You’ve got options

Options on the HRB 1003 ATC include:

  • Bi-S Sensor: Bi-S is a high-speed, high-precision, probe-style bend sensor that measures and adjusts the bend angle on the fly. Bend indicator technology eliminates test bends and reduces setup.
  • Auto Slide Foot Pedal: The auto slide foot pedal moves to the next bending position automatically to provide easier stage bending and increased efficiency.
  • L-Shift: The L-Shift function is available for the 6-axis backgauge configuration. Both gauge fingers can be set to different depth measurements to process asymmetrical workpieces easily.
  • Front Support System: The front support system provides fabricators with additional arm support. Additional arm support makes operation easier while maintaining a high level of productivity.

Standard on the HRB ATC series:

  • Adjustable Crowning: the natural crowning action of the lower beam matches the deflection of the ram to provide a consistent angle throughout the entire length of the bed.
  • Digi-Pro: Digi-Pro is a highly accurate, electronic angle measuring device that transmits the measured angle wirelessly to the press brake’s NC control via an infrared interface. The program is automatically adjusted as needed, thereby providing the precise bend angle.

When you experience the speed of the ATC system and the robust bending platform that is the EGB 1003 ATC, you will see why it has been a successful press brake for AMADA America. It will be on display at FABTECH 2024 Orlando.
